The Curling Committee is getting ready for the 2024/2025 season. A significant schedule
change is the move of the Ladies League from Thursday to Tuesday. Ladies and Men will share
Tuesday evenings and weekly alternate curling at 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. There is no doubt in this
author’s mind that Tuesdays are the better day to curl with Thursdays oftentimes being occupied
by bonspieling and long-weekend travel. We are hopeful that this change will be well received
by our membership. It opened up a time slot for Doubles curling on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. All
of the league time changes can be studied in League Descriptions under the Curling tab on the
website.
Our registration process continues to ask members to provide priorities for the Open Leagues.
For our newer members, teams in “Open” format leagues can be all men, all women, two of
each, three of one and one of the other. Open leagues curl Sundays at 5:15 p.m., Mondays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m., Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and Monday evenings at 6:15p.m.
and 8:30 p.m. In the past, we have been able to assign everyone to their top choice league, and
we hope to continue that practice. Almost all of the Open leagues have had eight teams this past
session with the 4 p.m. leagues being particularly popular. Please consider signing up for one of
the Open leagues in evening time slots.
We all know that our Club’s daytime curling opportunities are second to none among curling
clubs but as our membership continues to expand rapidly, we have to get people curling after
dark, using our available ice time more efficiently. So, be prepared for evening Micro Leagues,
Triples curling and evening pick-up/social curling opportunities.
Doubles curling will see a rule change in that previously allowed replacement teams are OUT.
Our Doubles league managers have been briefed on the rule change and can answer any
questions you may have.
By the time this newsletter is out, registration for league curling will either be underway, about
to be closed or in our rear-view mirror. This is just the first step in getting people sorted into
leagues and teams. The teams for most of the leagues will be sorted out at the draft on
September 26 and league curling starts on October 6, with the Sunday 5:15 p.m. Open league.
Remember to pay your dues before you step on the ice. Now that we have the option to pay
electronically, paying dues has never been easier.
The Curling Committee would like to encourage timely play by all of our members. Our
calendar is quite full and slow play has a trickle-down effect and delays the evening games.
Please use the time cards posted at the end of each sheet to track where you are throughout the
game to avoid timing out.
Let’s start the 2024/2025 Curling Season!
