Ice Crew Volunteers

Join the Ice Crew!

The Ice Crew installs and maintains our curling ice throughout the season and keeps the ice in top condition for the Summerspiel and other events. We are always looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks throughout the year.

Some opportunities require only a short time commitment, while others involve a regular two-hour weekly commitment during the curling season. No prior experience is required for most positions — just a willingness to help and a desire to keep our ice clean, consistent, and keen!

Ice Crew volunteer opportunities include:

• Ice Pad Preparation: Cleaning the ice pad before installation and after the ice is removed. (up to 4 opportunities per year)
• Flooding Teams: Helping install the ice twice each year (typically at the end of June and end of September and you can fill-in as little or as often as you would like).
• Line Party Crews: Installing sheet lines during the “ice-in” process. (twice per year for 3-4 hours)
• Scrape Teams: Helping maintain clean ice during ice installation and assisting with daily scrapes throughout the season. (each team scrapes one day per week)
• Game Prep Teams: Pebbling, nipping, mopping, and dragging ice for bonspiels and special events. (this commitment varies depending on events)

You can volunteer for any or all of these opportunities and choose the schedule that works best for you — whether that’s weekly support, ice-in/ice-out, Summerspiel, bonspiels, or other club events.
