The Cape Cod Curling Club's

Junior Summerspiel

July 23 -26, 2023

Thank You!

We want to thank you all for joining us for our 10th Junior Summerspiel.

On display this past week was the future of curling.  Some of our competitors are teams that play on the national and international stage.  Some came out for their very first bonspiel.   All of them had a great time!

We hear time and time again that this bonspeil is where teammates are found and new freindships are forged.  We expect this year is no exception.  The teams curled together, ate together, played cornhole together, swam together, and watched the sun set together.

Speaking of Cornhole, this years C6 (Cape Cod Curling Club Cornhole Classic) was won by Team Yellow Gatorade.  Teams were randomly assembled by pulling names out of a hat.  Teams then had 5 minutes to come up with a team name and put it back in the hat.  When asked why they chose Yellow Gatorade as their name, thay said "It was the first thing we saw."

The Bonspiel started off Sunday, July 23, with 11 teams sorted into one 5 and one 6 team pool.  Over Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, each team played four games to be seeded into an 8 team playdown bracket that started Tuesday afternoon.   All throughout the bonspiel we were treated to not only some great curling, but some amazing sportsmanship.

The first event finals came down to Team Hebert and Team Cenzalli.  It was a close and hard fought game, but in the end Team Cenzalli took the win for their second consecutive year.  Our other two events were won by Team Vidaurrazaga (Second Event) and Team Neill (Third Event).
