The Cape Cod Curling Club's
Dewees Mixed Summerspiel
July 13 -16, 2023
Welcome to the 52nd Annual Dewees Mixed Summerspiel!
Cape Cod Curling Club has welcomed curlers to the Dewees Mixed Summerspiel every summer since 1969 (with a short hiatus while the world took a time-out). Whether you are coming here to curl, to cheer, or simply out of curiosity, we are happy to share our sport and the details of this Summerspiel with you!
The 2023 Dewees Mixed is a points spiel, with 36 teams joining us from across the US and Canada. Each team will play 3 games (1 per day) between Thursday and Saturday. Teams earn points by winning games, winning ends, and the number of stones counted in each end. The top 12 teams will move on to the Finals, which take place on Sunday.
You can see all the details for events, meals, and draws in our booklet: https://tinyurl.com/MixedBookletSummer23. Here are some highlights:
Draws: There are 6 draws each day (8:00am, 10:15am, 12:30pm, 5:45pm, 8:00pm). Curlers and guests can enjoy watching the games from our warm room or via our live stream cameras (https://capecodcurling.org/index.php/live-streaming-video).
Meals: All meals are included in the rink fee for each curler. Guests are welcome to join us during meals by paying the non-curler meal price (price varies by meal). The exception to this is our Saturday Lobster Clambake. This meal is by reservation only and tickets must be prepaid by July 01, 2023.
Thursday Cocktail Party (7/13): Join us from 6pm to 9pm for our cocktail party and welcome reception! This is a great chance to meet the teams, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones-- all while enjoying heavy hors d'oeuvres and delicious beverages.
Saturday Celebration (7/15): Celebrate the end of regular play and our final night together with live music from 9pm to 11pm in the warm room! Everyone is welcome to come down and cheer on the final draws, enjoy the music and the company of good friends, and get ready for the finals on Sunday morning.
Finals (7/16): Sunday morning will have two draws for the Finals. If you are not playing in one of the Final events, this is an exciting set of games to check out. Each draw starts with the Piper (bagpiper) leading the teams out onto the ice. If you’ve never had the pleasure of watching this traditional start to curling Finals, we strongly encourage you to be at the club to watch and hear the pageantry.
- 4th, 5th, & 6th Event Finals are piped on at 7:45am; games start at 800am.
- 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Event Finals are piped on at 10:15am; games start at 10:30am.
Awards Celebration: Join us for the presentation of awards to the Event winners and finalists after the completion of the 2nd draw, ~12:30pm. If needed, we will present awards early to any Finalists or Winners who need to get on the road home.
T-shirts: The official Summerspiel ’23 t-shirt is now available on-line through Bonfire.com. There are several styles and colors available, and Bonfire will deliver directly to you! More details are included in the link below. Note: we will not have official Summerspiel '23 shirts for sale at the club. We'll have a few sample shirts available for folks to try on for size. You can order t-shirts online through July 26th.
Take care and Good Curling!
